Excel Functions

Get hyperbolic secant of an angle

Syntax

EXCEL
=SECH(number)

Arguments

Parameter Description
number The hyperbolic angle.

Return Value

The hyperbolic secant of the angle

Details

The Excel SECH function returns the hyperbolic secant of a hyperbolic angle angle. Given 2 as input, the function returns 0.265802229 as output. The hyperbolic secant is the reciprocal of the COSH function. The plot below show's the function's output in Excel.

Examples

Example 1

The Excel SECH function returns the hyperbolic secant of a hyperbolic angle angle. Given 2 as input, the function returns 0.265802229 as output.

EXCEL
=SECH(2) // returns 0.265802229
Explanation

The hyperbolic secant is the reciprocal of the COSH function.

EXCEL
=1/COSH(x) // equivalent to SECH(x)
